Location

Rough Creek Lodge, Ranch & Resort is nestled on 9,000 scenic acres at the gateway to the renowned Texas Hill Country. Conveniently located just 90 minutes southwest of Downtown Dallas and about 75 minutes from Downtown Fort Worth, the resort sits off U.S. Highway 67 near Glen Rose, Texas.

Guestroom Accommodations: All guestrooms have balconies and views of Mallard Lake.  

Conference Room seating Configurations: 8 hours of meeting space per overnight stay is included in your package during business hours of 8am to 6pm. Additional meeting hours or evening meetings are available at an additional charge. Set to your specifications with ergonomically designed chairs.

Dining: Full breakfast buffet, 3 course upscale lunch or lunch buffet and 3 course upscale dinner are included per overnight stay (in the main dining room) individually selected from our daily menus and specially designed by our Executive Chef. Surcharges may apply for private or special menus.

Refreshments: Continuous soft drink, water, tea and coffee service during meeting periods as well as during morning and afternoon refreshment breaks.

Audio Visual: Extensive audio-visual equipment package available including High-resolution LED TV, easels, flip-chart pads, markers, full sound system, lapel and hand held microphones. Additional specialized equipment can be provided for a nominal fee. A/V technicians are charged at an hourly rate.

Conference Concierge: A Conference Concierge will assist you in all aspects of your program operation during normal business hours.

Service Charges: Service Charges for Meeting Package meals are included so no additional tips or gratuities are expected.

Rough Creek Team Building Challenge

  • The group will be divided into teams and driven in our stadium hunt trucks to 10 locations throughout the property to participate in various activities for points. These activities include our driving range, archery, clay shooting, rifle range, free throws, tomahawk throwing, overlook hike, bowling, cornhole and pickleball! This team building event is a great way to see multiple locations of the resort while experiencing several activities we have to offer.
  • Cost $200.00 per team, maximum of 6 guests per team. This activity is best suited for groups no larger than 40 people
  • Approximate time needed – Two Hours.

Team Olympics

  • Group will be divided into teams and each team will start at a different activity to earn points. Once an activity is completed all groups will rotate to the next activity until all the activities have been completed. You may choose from the following activity options: Wobble Trap, Archery, Tomahawks, Driving Range, Cornhole, Horseshoes, Lasso, Maze, Mini Golf, Fishing, Pickle Pong, Bowling, Paintball Target Shooting, Ladder Ball and Free Throws. 
  • Cost $150.00 per team for groups 40 people or less; $200.00 per team for groups up to 60 people, $250.00 per team for groups up to 80 people, $300.00 per team for groups up to 100 people and $350.00 per team for groups more than 100 people.  
  • Activity customization available for an additional $100 per team
  • 10 teams maximum total with 5 to 8 people per team limit.
  • Approximate time needed – Two to Four Hours depending on the number of teams and the size of the group.

Four Lane Bowling Alley and Billiards

  • Test your bowling skills at our brand new facility! 
  • Cost for bowling is $75 per lane, per hour with a 1 hour minimum. 5 people per lane max
  • Billiards tables available during operational hours. 
  • Beverage service available upon request for an additional cost.

Private Climbing Tower and ZipLine

  • A truly exhilarating experience. We provide all equipment and Guides.
  • Cost $35 per person with a 10 person minimum
  • Approximate time needed will vary depending on the number of guest.

Low Ropes Course

  • Your team will participate in activities structured to teach and enhance group and individual abilities such as effect communication skills, creative problem solving skills and powerful leadership skills. This is achieved through a series of group initiatives designed to teach these skills through participatory experiences rather than a lecture format. Your team will have fun and learn at the same time!
  • This event is outsourced and conducted by trained team building facilitators that you will work with to build your event. 
  • Cost $70.00 per person, minimum 10 guests.
  • Approximate time needed: 2 – 4 hours.

Paintball Competition

  • Staff will lead you through developing strategies while focusing on teamwork. Teams will be divided and participate in a speed round followed by a series of strategic competitions.
  • Cost $57.00 per person, per hour with a minimum 8 guests.
  • Pricing includes two hoppers of paintballs. Additional paintballs are available at $15 per bag, 250 balls per bag.

Cattle Drive

  • Enjoy a once in a lifetime experience herding 30 or more cattle across a portion of the ranch’s 10,000 acres.
  • Each rider is matched to a horse best suited to individual riding abilities, including Novice and Beginner riders.
  • 1 wrangler per every 5 riders.
  • Cost is a minimum $1,000 for up to 5 riders. Each additional rider up to 10 is $200 per rider. Each additional rider over 10 is $350 per rider.
  • Personalized elements available at an additional charge: Roping Exhibition, Hats, & Bandanas.
  • Approximate time needed – Two and half to Three Hours.
  • Weight of the rider must not exceed 250 pounds. 

Rocket Building

  • Group will divide into teams, then build, launch and recover a “rocket”.
  • This event is conducted on our front lawn within walking distance of the Lodge.
  • Cost $104.00 per team of 4 to 5 guests, minimum 2 teams.
  • Approximate time needed – One Hour.

Sporting Clays Target Shooting

  • The challenging course simulates actual hunting in the field and is recommended for experienced shooters. 
  • Course is approximately a 1/2-mile loop and requires walking on uneven terrain. We provide transportation and safety instruction.
  • A full round of Sporting Clays is 100 shots at ten shooting stations: Per person cost is $152 and includes 100 targets, ammo (based on 12 and 20 gauge), shotguns, ear and eye protection.
  • ½ Round consists of 50 shots total at five shooting stations: Per person cost is $127 and includes 50 targets, ammo (based on 12 and 20 gauge), shotguns, ear and eye protection.
  • Approximate time needed - Three Hours.

Five-Stand Target Shooting

  • A competitive shooting event for shooters of all skill levels, from novice to advanced shooters.
  • This event is challenging for both ladies and gentlemen. Our instructors are there to assist every level shooter with advice and instruction.
  • Conducted at Rough Creek’s Five-Stand Course within walking distance of the Lodge. We provide assistance from our Wildlife Staff and safety instructions.
  • Per person cost is $82 and includes 25 targets, ammo (based on 12 and 20 gauge), shotguns, ear and eye protection.
  • Approximate time needed – Two Hours.

Private Archery Competition

  • Group may compete individually or by teams.
  • We provide the equipment, instruction and scorekeepers.
  • Cost $25.00 per person, minimum 5 guests.
  • Approximate time needed -One Hour. 

Private Tomahawk Competition

  • Group may compete individually or by teams.
  • We provide the equipment, instruction and scorekeepers.
  • Cost $25.00 per person, minimum 5 guests.
  • Approximate time needed -One Hour. 

1,000 Yard Rifle Range

  • Elevated covered shooting platform, steel targets located at multiple distances commencing at 100 yards to 1, 000 yards.
  • Gun rental such as Remington 700 bolt action and 308 Caliber sniper rig available for use equipped with long range optics, Harris bi-pod, rear monopod and anti-cant level
  • $102 per person per hour with a one hour minimum
  • Ammunition is available for an additional cost
  • We provide transportation and safety instruction.
  • Approximate time needed –One Hour.

Small Caliber Rifle Shooting

  • 100 yard range
  • $52 per person per hour with a one hour minimum
  • Gun Rental such as AR 15 (.223) or .243 rifle is included in the price
  • Ammunition is available for an additional cost
  • We provide transportation and safety instruction.
  • Approximate time needed –One Hour.

Pistol Range

  • Enjoy a variety of steel and paper targets.
  • $52 per person per hour with a one hour minimum
  • Gun Rental such as Ruger .22 and 9mm handgun is included in the pricing.
  • Ammunition is available for an additional cost
  • We provide transportation and safety instruction.
  • Approximate time needed –One Hour.

Horseback Riding

  • Guided trail ride across the ranch.
  • Practice listening skills, and build camaraderie while exploring some of the most beautiful terrain in the area.
  • Cost $130.00 per rider for 90 minute ride: maximum 10 people.
  • Cost $100.00 per rider for 60 minute ride: maximum 10 people
  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to ride time.
  • Weight of the rider must not exceed 250 pounds

Private Hay Ride

  • Tour the ranch Texas Style, under the stars, on a customized hayride.
  • Ideal after hour’s mixer. Incorporate hot chocolate, s’mores, and a Texas style sing-a-long for an additional charge.
  • Visit the Honeymoon Cottage and see wildlife on Rough Creek Lodge country side.
  • Hayrides scheduled at other times are $200 per hay ride, maximum 20 people per ride.
  • Approximate time needed – 1 hour. Actual ride time is 30 minutes.

Wine Tasting

  • Wines are introduced and sampled by group for tasting and discussion.
  • If you would like the wines can be with dinner after the event.
  • Cost $25.00 per person (excluding alcohol) includes cheese tray, minimum 10 guests.
  • Wine is charged per bottle opened—Please select a price range for your wine.
  • Approximate time needed – One Hour
  • Available Sunday– Thursday from 3PM-5PM

Chili Cook Off

  • Each team is provided with 2 lbs. of Chili Meat, a cooker, pre-cut vegetables and spices (maybe some “fun” ones from the Chef). We can provide judges or the team members can be judges.
  • Teams will be judged on the Team Name, Verbal Presentation, and the actual taste of the chili.
  • Add an open bar with lots of cold beer for even more fun
  • Cost $125.00 per team (excluding Alcohol), 5 people per team maximum, $500 activity minimum.
  • Add $75.00 for non-hosted bar or $150.00 for bar with a bartender plus the cost of alcohol.
  • Approximate time needed – One and a half hours.
  • Available Sunday– Thursday from 3PM to5PM.

Margarita Shake Off

  • Each team is provided with a variety of liquors, fresh fruits and fresh juice ingredients-certainly some “fun” ones from the Chef. We can provide judges or the team members can be judges.
  • Teams will be judged on the Team Name, Verbal Presentation, Creativity, and the actual taste of the margarita.
  • Cost $125.00 per team, maximum 5 people per team. $500 activity minimum. Pricing excludes alcohol used for the competition. 
  • Alcohol is charged per ounce poured—Please select a price range for your liquor.
  • Price includes RCL Classic Margarita at the end of the activity for each guest.
  • Approximate time needed – One Hour.
  • Available Sunday – Thursday from 3PM to5PM.

Salsa Challenge

  • We provide each team with a variety of fresh ingredients such as garlic, tomatoes, onion, roasted corn, jalapenos, a variety of fruit and spices to give it a little kick. We can provide judges or the team members can be judges.
  • Teams will be judged on the Team Name, Verbal Presentation, Creativity, and the actual taste of the salsa.
  • Cost $125.00 per team, maximum 5 people per team, $500 activity minimum. Pricing excludes alcohol. 
  • Add $75.00 for non-hosted bar or $150.00 for bar with a bartender plus the cost of alcohol.
  • Approximate time needed – One Hour.
  • Available Sunday– Thursday from 3PM to 5PM.

Guacamole Challenge

  • We provide each team with a variety of fresh ingredients to make your favorite spin on the side dish. We can provide judges or the team members can be judges.
  • Teams will be judged on the Team Name, Verbal Presentation, Creativity, and the actual taste of the guacamole.
  • Cost $125.00 per team, maximum 5 people per team, $500 activity minimum. Pricing excludes alcohol. 
  • Add $75.00 for non-hosted bar or $150.00 for bar with a bartender plus the cost of alcohol.
  • Approximate time needed – One Hour.
  • Available Sunday– Thursday from 3PM to5PM.

All Team Building events must be scheduled in advance. All events are subject to time and availability. All Activities are subject to State and Local Taxes and Service Charges. All activities are subject to 24 hour cancellation policy excluding the cattle drive which has a 7-day cancellation policy.

Recreational Activities

Included in the Resort Fee Per Normal Daily Schedule.

Adult & Family Pools: Enjoy some fun in the sun or relax your tired muscles in our outdoor family pool complete with 66 foot slide and hot tub.

Kid’s Ranch: Board games, Video Games, Ping Pong Tables, Foosball, Air Hockey and movies are available for your enjoyment.

Petting Corral: Visit the miniature goats, potbelly pigs, alpacas, minature donkey and pony at the Petting Corral. 

Mallard Lake Fishing: Dawn to Dusk Catch and release fishing. Complimentary fishing equipment and Bass Boats are available on Mallard Lake.

Zipline, Climbing Wall and High Ropes Course: Test your climbing skills on our 45-foot Climbing Wall, then zip 650 feet towards Mallard Lake.

Driving Range: Fully coverd 6 bay driving range with mats and rubber tees at each bay.

Largest Maze in Texas: Experience the largest Maze in Texas! Have fun navigating the maze with friends or challenge your friends and family.

Pickleball Complex: Enjoy pickleball on our outdoor court. Balls and Rackets are available at the courts.

Fitness Center: Our 24-hour fitness center has a variety of workout equipment to keep you in shape.

Shuffleboard, 18 Hole Putt Putt and Cornhole: Show off your skills at these old fashioned games. These activities are located by the horseshoe pits behind the main lodge.  

Horseshoes and Washers: Challenge a friend to an old fashioned game of Horseshoes or Washers. We have horseshoe pits next to the Pergola behind and Main Lodge and near the Pavilion and Cabins.

Biking and Hiking: Discover what the Hill Country has to offer while biking through the countryside or hiking on one of our many trails. Electric bikes also available at an additional charge.

Nature Trail: Enjoy our 5 mile nature trail around Mallard Lake. Visit the Enchanted Forest and the Dinosaur mile and enjoy the native wildlife surrounding Rough Creek.

S’mores: Share stories around one of our two limestone fire pits while roasting marshmallows and indulging in rich, chocolaty s’mores.

Archery and Tomahawk Throwing: Try your hand at two of the oldest sports of our country.

Aqua Cycle Paddleboat and Two-Person Canoes: Just like when you were a kid. It’s a great way to explore Mallard Lake and have fun on the water.

  • Steve Schick

    Steve is a singer/songwriter, guitarist and lifelong resident of Texas who has been performing professionally for over 35 years with performances ranging from small intimate groups to large iconic venues such as The Cowtown Coliseum and Billy Bobs. His wide variety of song selection is built to reach most any audience. He's often referred to a song painter as he paints pictures in the listeners mind with lyrics of the songs he sings. Steve is also the Godfather of the Texas Music Icon, Randy Rogers!

  • Gary Anderson

    Gary Anderson's style of music is Texas Country music and 90's Country covers mixed with tasteful originals. He can perform as a solo acoustic artist or with a fiddle player for an updated fee.

  • Squaw Creek Sound and Music

    Shelley Starnes is a professional music coordinator and DJ with over 20 years of experience. She has a vast music library for all occasions and can customize a music playlist to make your event vivacious and memorable.

  • Casino Parties

    A true gaming experience Las Vegas style blackjack, Texas Hold'em, craps and roulette.

  • DJ and Karaoke

    With over 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry, DJ Hefty can liven up any corporate event.

Theme Events

Have a truly unique and memorable experience at Rough Creek Lodge, Ranch and Resort. Enjoy an evening created especially for you at our pool overlooking Mallard Lake, on our lakeside terrace and fire pit, or away from it all at our tree surrounded Pavilion. We also have our Family Pool Complex and covered cabana available. Theme events and menus must be requested two weeks prior to arrival date. Each theme event pricing varies based upon menu selection and location. All themed menus require a minimum of 25 people, all events with less than 25 people will be Chef’s choice.

Directions

FROM DALLAS

Take I-35 South from downtown Dallas. About 5 miles outside of downtown, take the exit for Hwy 67 (note: Hwy 67 only goes one direction here—southwest). Stay on Hwy 67 for approximately 80 miles. After passing through Glen Rose (around mile 70), continue for another 10 miles. As you reach the top of a tall hill, you’ll see a Rest Area on the right. Begin slowing down to about 40 MPH—you're approaching a left turn onto County Road 2013. There’s no traffic signal at the turn, but you’ll notice a Rough Creek Lodge sign on the right side of Hwy 67 with an arrow pointing left. Turn left onto CR 2013 and continue for 4 miles. The entrance gate to Rough Creek Lodge will be on your right. Go through the gate and drive 3 more miles to reach the Lodge.

FROM DFW AIRPORT

Exit the airport using the south exit from any terminal. After the toll plaza, stay in the right lane and take the exit for Hwy 183 West / Hwy 360 South. After about a mile, take the exit for Hwy 360 South and continue for 13 miles, passing Six Flags Over Texas along the way. Merge onto I-20 West toward Fort Worth and stay on it for 16 miles. Take the exit for I-35W South (toward Waco) and continue for 21 miles. Exit onto Hwy 67 in Alvarado and turn right (south). Stay on Hwy 67 for approximately 45 miles. After passing through Glen Rose (about 35 miles in), continue for another 10 miles. As you reach the top of a tall hill, you’ll see a Rest Area on your right. Begin slowing to 40 MPH—you're approaching a left turn onto County Road 2013. There’s no traffic light, but you’ll spot a Rough Creek Lodge sign on the right side of Hwy 67 with an arrow pointing left. Turn left onto CR 2013 and drive 4 miles. The entrance gate to Rough Creek Lodge will be on your right. Go through the gate and follow the road for 3 more miles to reach the Lodge.

FROM FORT WORTH

Starting near downtown Fort Worth on I-30, take the Chisholm Trail Parkway south for approximately 24 miles. Exit onto Highway 67 in Cleburne and turn right (south). Stay on Highway 67 for about 33 miles total. After passing through Glen Rose (about 22 miles in), continue for another 11 miles. As you crest a tall hill, you’ll see a Rest Area on your right—begin slowing down to around 40 MPH. Just ahead, you’ll make a left onto County Road 2013. There is no traffic light at this turn, but you'll notice a Rough Creek Lodge sign on the right side of Highway 67 with an arrow pointing left. Turn left onto County Road 2013 and drive for 4 miles. The Rough Creek Lodge gate will be on your right. Enter through the gate and continue for another 3 miles to reach the Lodge.

FROM WACO

Take IH-35 North toward Waco, then exit onto Highway 6 and follow it through Meridian to Hico. In Hico, head north on Road 220 until you reach Highway 67. Continue north on Highway 67 until you come to County Road 2013. Turn right (south) onto County Road 2013 and drive for about four miles. The entrance to the Lodge will be on your right. Turn right through the gate and follow the road— the Lodge will be set off to the right.
